JUMP IN FOR JOCKEYS

The RadioTAB Appeal powered by UBET is raising awareness and helping to raise funds for the National Jockeys Trust. The RadioTAB team is passionate about sharing the stories and emotions of racing industry participants, and hope that by providing an insight into the National Jockeys Trust and the jockeys and families they support, that the racing community will be inspired to get involved.

You can tune in to the RadioTAB Appeal on Tuesday 1 August 2017. Guest hosts and feature interviews will be aired from 5am to 11.30am.

The National Jockeys Trust was established in 2004 to provide financial and other support to jockeys and their families, who fall under necessitous circumstances because of injury, illness or death.

During 2015-2016 the NJT provided $458,824 (Funerals $55,200; Illness $133,779 and Injuries $269,844) in financial assistance to 52 jockeys and their families. Funds provided are not paid in cash, they are paid towards specific costs such as Mortgage, Rent, School Fees, Home Modifications, Utilities, Repairs and Wheel chairs.

Did you know - the role of a jockey is defined as the most dangerous land based job in the world? After all, an ambulance does follow them around each time they ride in a race.
